Our Founders

Shannon Woolley

Shannon Woolley, Artistic Director, received her Master's in Educational Theatre from New York University. She has performed at the Provincetown Playhouse, with Bridgework Theatre, and with Horsechart Theatre Company, of which she was a founding member. She attended SMU and graduated with a major in acting and a minor in Women's Studies. She leads devising workshops each summer in New England for students in the Excel pre-college program in Williamstown, and is a proud member of Alternate ROOTs. She is presently working as a teaching artist with StageOne Children's Theate in Louisville, KY.

Trina Fischer

Trina Fischer, Executive Director, received a B.S. in Peformance Studies with a minor in Latin American Studies from Northwestern University. Subsequently, she spent a year in Santiago, Chile studying and teaching acting on a Fulbright grant. She spent a season as an apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville and later toured schools with Bridgework Theatre doing conflict resolution-based drama. She has participated in various theatrical productions since arriving in New York City, including Barabbas and Miss Julie. She is presently working as a teaching artist with CUNY's Creative Arts Team and serves on the Executive Committee of Alternate ROOTS.

Kelly McNerney

Kelly Welsh-McNerney, Development Director, holds a BFA in acting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is currently a teaching artist for StageOne Children's Theatre in Louisville, KY. Kelly has performed in the Pacific Northwest for Taproot Theatre, Book-It Repertory Theatre, and has co-produced and performed in The Baby Dance by Jane Anderson--a production which was chosen as the "Artistic Pick" of the Seattle Fringe Festival and later restaged at both A Contemporary Theatre and the Seattle Repertory Theatre. She also spent a year as a company member and Education Director for St. Croix Festival Theatre in Wisconsin.

Jennifer Thalman Kepler

Jennifer Thalman Kepler, Community Outreach Director, holds an MA in Educational Theatre from New York University. While in NYC, Jennifer worked for five years as a freelance teaching artist, integrating drama into math and social studies curriculum, facilitating arts-based violence prevention programs and directing youth theatre. Jennifer has also spent a year in Guatemala where she served with the Presbyterian Women of Occidente Prebytery as a Young Adult Volunteer with the PC (USA). While in Guatemala, Jennifer led community building and self-esteem workshops for women as well as workshop planning training sessions with the leaders of the Presbyterian Women. From this experience, Jennifer partnered LFL with the women in Guatemala to create the on-going Faith Stories project. Jennifer is currently living in the Washington D.C. area directing children’s theatre and working in several after school arts programs. She is pursuing her theological studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C.
